The Student of the Month for January is William Taing, a Gr. 12 student at Leamington District Secondary School. William truly exemplifies this month鈥檚 theme of 鈥School Spirit鈥.
William is an enthusiastic participant is LDSS spirit weeks and school events. What sets him apart, however, is his effort to include everyone, making sure no one feels left out. William knows almost every student by name and greets people with a high five or fist bump, spreading positivity wherever he goes. As a digital creator and photographer, he seeks out new friends who are willing to be in his Selfie with Friends platform.
William often attends Lions鈥 sporting events and activities to cheer on his peers. His school pride and enthusiasm are contagious, and it鈥檚 not often that a student inspires such widespread support from the entire student body. With every assembly, event, or game, William rallies behinds his peers and demonstrates what it means to be a Lion.
In addition to being a proud LDSS fan, he is a talented student-athlete himself, participating in Track and Field and Cross-Country. His work ethic and dedication were evident when he qualified for OFSAA Cross-country. Even in a competitive environment, William demonstrates true sportsmanship by wishing his competitors well.
Above all, William contributes to the strong sense of community within Leamington鈥檚 Pride. School spirit is not just about participation; it鈥檚 about creating a positive school climate. It is without a doubt that William鈥檚 actions and attitude contribute to the inclusive and uplifting environment at LDSS.
